New Ford SYNC 3 Upgrades - Improvements In Infotainment!

The engineers at Ford have done an impressive job making their vehicles more powerful, efficient, stylish and relevant over the last decade and have been incredibly successful on all fronts. The Ford vehicle lineup is arguably the most versatile, accessible, affordable and hip domestic model line on the market today.

In addition to the structural and powertrain redesigns, Ford took a huge leap forward in integrating advanced infotainment systems in its new vehicles. Partnering with Microsoft, the Dearborn manufacturer installed an in-vehicle entertainment and communications system, initially released in 2007, allowing users to make hands-free phone calls, control music, navigation and other functions.

The Ford SYNC system, while innovative, has experienced some growing pains. SYNC users have noted that the system has been difficult to use, a lack of voice recognition and pairing problems. But Ford has addressed all of these concerns with release of the new Ford SYNC 3 System this year.

Upgrades IN SYNC 3 System

The new Ford SYNC3 System is, by all accounts, more responsive, intuitive, and easier to use and the improvements could not have come sooner for Ford drivers and enthusiasts. The team at Ford went all in redesigning both the software and hardware of its infamous infotainment system. Here are some standout improvements in our eyes:

1. New Layout

The new layout of the SYNC3 graphic interface is aesthetically pleasing with sharp modern design and makes it easier for users to find exactly what they are looking for without compromising the safety of drivers or passengers. New pinch to zoom, swiping, and scrolling technology affords users an intuitive interface that is akin to smartphone and tablet devices and hot buttons that make system navigation simple.

2. Improved Voice Recognition

Voice recognition was a problem with previous generations of SYNC, but SYNC 3 quickly and accurately recognizes voice commands. Simpler command prompts make verbally selecting music or navigating to your restaurant or business of choice easier than ever.

3. Better Phone Pairing

The new Ford SYNC 3 has also improved pairing with iPhone and Android operating systems, while the new Ford AppLink makes it easy to sync smart phone apps like Pandora and Spotify and Siri hands free technology for phone calls and texting.

According to Ford Motor Company vice president of US Marketing, Mark LaNeve, "SYNC always has been about providing a safer way for our customers to connect their smartphones in order to keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. Customers continue to tell us they want this technology, and they want it to be fast and easy to use - like a smartphone. SYNC 3 delivers on that request."

The new SYNC 3 system was rolled out this Summer in the new 2016 Ford Escape and 2016 Ford Fiesta and it will also be available on the Focus, C-MAX, Mustang and Expedition.
